Creating Safer Communities Through Sport | S.A.F.E. (Sport Against Female Exploitation)

10 July 2026

Sport is more than a game. It is a powerful way to teach respect, encourage equality, and create safer spaces for young people.

Through S.A.F.E. (Sport Against Female Exploitation), delivered by ASA Foundation with the support of Decathlon Foundation, sport and education come together to empower young people and educators in promoting gender equality and preventing Gender-Based Violence.

Aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
• SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
• SDG 4: Quality Education
• SDG 5: Gender Equality
• SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
• SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

Across Jakarta, S.A.F.E. has reached:
• 10,926 young people engaged, including 5,679 girls and 5,247 boys
• 30 Physical Education teachers trained to lead safe and inclusive sport activities
• 9,920 S.A.F.E. classes delivered by teachers in schools

Through football, futsal, basketball, and volleyball, teachers are equipped with tools to promote positive relationships, inclusion, and safer learning environments.

The impact continues to grow:
• 93% of teachers and 84% of students are progressing through the program
• 100% of teachers believe their students feel safe during S.A.F.E. activities
• 100% of teachers feel the program has improved their teaching skills

Together with teachers, schools, and young people, we are creating spaces where everyone can learn, participate, and thrive.

Through sport, young people discover their potential.
Through education, they create change.

Together, we build a safer and more equal future.
