ASA Foundation & Decathlon Foundation S.A.F.E. (Sport Against Female Exploitation), Jakarta

25 August 2025

Jakarta, 23–24 August 2025 — ASA Foundation, in partnership with Decathlon Foundation, successfully organized the S.A.F.E. (Sport Against Female Exploitation) Project at SMAN 39 Jakarta. The two-day workshop marked another milestone in the ongoing mission to combat Gender-Based Violence (GBV) through the transformative power of sport.

Empowering Educators as Change Agents. The workshop gathered 30 passionate teachers, consisting of 16 women (53.3%) and 14 men (46.7%), who came together with a shared vision: to build safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments. Their active participation underscored the crucial role educators play as the first line of defense against GBV in schools.

A Ripple Effect to Over 10,000 Students. Beyond the classroom, the impact of the project is set to reach 10,926 students across SMAN 39 Jakarta:

  • 5,247 male students (48%)
  • 5,679 female students (52%)

By equipping teachers with practical tools and knowledge, the program ensures that these students will directly benefit from a safer, more inclusive school culture.

Sport as a Catalyst for Change. The S.A.F.E. Project demonstrates that sport is more than just physical activity, it is a powerful educational platform. By fostering teamwork, respect, and mutual understanding, sport becomes an avenue to raise awareness, challenge harmful stereotypes, and inspire both teachers and students to stand united against GBV.

Strengthening Partnerships for Greater Impact. This initiative is part of ASA Foundation’s broader commitment to gender equality and child protection through sports-based education. With the support of Decathlon Foundation, the program reinforces the belief that sustainable change requires collaboration across sectors.
